| Dear Members of the Press. On behalf of our almost 200 member company, welcome to The Colorado Shakespeare Festival. We are honored that youve chosen to attend and review our plays. Since the end of last season, weve been thinking, planning and working to create theatre of the highest artistic quality for 2003. Beginning in May, weve gathered from across the nation and around the world to build sets, props and costumes, hang lights, rehearse linesall the myriad tasks involved in mounting major theatrical productions. And now our work comes together, sharply focused on opening nights. As the curtain rises, we have a single objective, and that is to entertain you. We want you to see and feel and hear the timeless genius of Shakespeare in fresh new ways. We want you to go away with the deeply satisfied feeling that comes from fully experiencing a work of art. And if ever we fall short of these high goals, we expect that you will fully and fairly tell us so. Our aimalwaysis to share the artistic experience with the entire community. As members of the press, your importance in spreading the word that the Festival is here and available to all Coloradoans cannot be overstated. You may think that most people know about a venerable institution such as the Festival, but in a high growth area such as ours, thats often not the case. We are constantly surprised at the number of people who learn about us only through the press we receive. The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is news! We hope that when you come to the Festival, youll come for the whole experiencefree shows on The Green, backstage tours, the Shakespeare Garden, the Heritage Center Exhibit in Old Main. Why not come a little early with the plan of enjoying a gentle summer evening, a picnic and your favorite beverage before the show. We look forward to entertaining you with Shakespeare under the stars. Sincerely, Richard M. Devin Producing Artistic Director |
